Before I start talking about the movie per se..a brief introduction: I AM A HUGE FAN OF THE MARVEL MOVIES..and in particular, of the X-men portion of the fan base, maybe it has to do with the fact that biology and mutations always fascinated me in a way. So this first (YAY) review will be COMPLETELY not impartial, mostly because of the Fassbender and McAvoy combo that reduced me in a puddle of my own drool...and then some.
this image can be used to make you guys picture me during the movie JS
However, I'm here because I want to express my honest opinion about the 7th installment of this famous series of movies based on Marvel's comic books. So here we go.

Plot wise, more often than not, the main themes in every superheroes movies are: friendship, loyalty, honor, justice, a lot of that if we think about it, and fighting for the right cause. What I love about the X-men movies is that we can find in there a great amount of tolerance and diversity as well.
However the biggest twist in Days of Future Past is in the fact that they mixed all of the predictable plot themes with a great story.
At the beginning of the movie we are in a miserable future for the X-men, humans created powerful machines, called Sentinels, to seek and destroy all the mutants in the world, quite successfully I might say. The only way to survive is to use Kitty Pryde's power to go back in time and change the future. The only X-man that can survive this mental trip is, obviously, Wolverine/Logan. To him is given the responsibility to fix the past with the help of a young and broken Professor X, if you recall, we left a great James McAvoy with a bullet in his spine in X-men first class, and a young and still revolutionary Magneto, Fassbender how I love thee. Wolverine needs to find them and bring them back together and untangled all of the events that led to that not so bright future.
The movie was entertaining and emotional. All the actors did an amazing job with their performance, the direction was great, and even though I saw it in 3D I didn't experience the ever present motion sickness that I always have to endure during a 3D screening.
Fassbender and McAvoy once again filled Sir Ian Mckellen and Patrick Stewart's big shoes perfectly.
The imperfect, tortured, broken and regretful image of Charles Xavier was portrayed skillfully by James McAvoy, it was really refreshing to see this new side of professor X, since we always saw him as the equilibrated character, sure of himself and of the others around him. Magneto, instead was true to himself, always ready to avenge and protect his people, not afraid of getting his hands dirty, on the contrary the dirtier the better for him, however, the big fight with his long-time friend, broke a little piece of him as well. Emblematic was the big argument between him and Charles during a plane ride...that was a majestic scene, with a great line delivery for both McAvoy and Fassbender.
While in the past we still see a bitter Magneto, the biggest surprise, was Future-Magneto, he changed so much that at the end you find yourself liking him a lot, even if you remember all the things that he did in the past movies (to be honest I always find the villains to be more interesting and complex than the good guys.), showing once again that everyone can change for the better.
Wolverine's character was pivotal for the story, and most of the time he was in charge of cooling down the heavy scenes with some sarcastic comments.
In fact, the key word for this movie is balance. Each and every character doesn't step on the others' toes, they all interact together without shadowing the other, and this could be hard if you put together a cast or spectacular, remarkable and talented actors with a background in theatre and live performances. There is also balance between comedy scenes, heavy scenes and action scenes that makes the movie fluid and not boring.
All in all, "X-men Days of Future Past" is a great entertaining movie, and the end left you with a sweet taste in your mouth, and mostly with endless possibilities to make more movies out of this series.
When you go see the movie look for all the Quicksilver scenes and in particular the scene between Past-Charles and Future-Charles having a meaningful conversation between each other, those were my favorite scenes, and especially the ones with Quicksilver were amazing. My advice is to listen to one song played during one of his few scenes, that helps set the hilarious tone in that moment and it's singularly worth the ticket's money (and trust me it aint cheap).

PS: hopefully my review is not total crap, bear in mind that this is my first attempt, so fell free to comment and give me suggestions to improve. I'm open to anything.
thank you for reading.

Till next time,
